Group Safe Spaces for Youth in Key Populations (Aged 15-24)
Group Safe Spaces for Youths in Key Populations started to be implemented in 2021 where young people selling sex, young msms, adolescents boys and young men and intersex people gather and discuss issues affecting them.
These are Youth-led safe spaces where they discuss about Sexual Reproductive Health Rights issues, HIV/STI prevention methods and referrals.
In partnership with Ministry of Health & Child Care, National AIDS Council, Intersex Community of Zimbabwe, City of Harare and other implementing partners, we support advocacy programs for Youths in Key Population communities.
These activities are under Key Population Advocacy, Prevention & Treatment Project funded by Intersex Community of Zimbabwe and other partners.
Group Safe Space for Youths Living HIV
Action for Youth Foundation Trust conducts group safe space meetings for Youths living with HIV (15-24 years) discussing issues affecting them. Partner disclosure sessions encouraging youths to dislose their HIV statuses to their loved ones.
U=U Campaign with Youths living with HIV, the organization addresses barriers to ART adherence and conducts defaulter tracking and retention to care programs. The aim of this activity is to end new opportunistic infections in Youths living with HIV. We believe in making a society where Youths live healthier lives.
Knowledge about fighting Stigma & Discrimination, involvement in civic spaces as Youths Living with HIV participating in different programs in community with a theme “Living Noone Behind”
Health Care Workers & Caregiver Programs
Health Care Workers and Parents & Caregivers, engage discussing on how to combat and improve ART adherence and uptake of HIV prevention & treatment services in Youths in their diversity.
The program helps to create safe and conducive environment fighting stigma and discrimination faced by Youths living with HIV & Youths in Key Populations in both healthcare facilities and communities.
Parents and Caregivers are at the core of our programs supporting their loved ones from hate speech, encouraging their Youths to access health services in time, empowering them to be resilience.
Community Dialogues with Religious Leaders
Religious Leaders have been most influencial in terms of culture and religion inthe society. Action for Youth Foundation Trust conducts Community Dialogues in churches, discussing sensitive information about HIV/STIs, Intersex issues, Positive Parenting & how to fight against HIV stigma and discrimination in churches.
This is a Joint Initiative called Churches and Communities Initiative for Action for Youth Foundation Trust in partnership with Forum Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse in Zimbabwe and Religious Institutions fighting for HIV Stigma and Drug Abuse.
Scaling up TB Prevention & Treatment Programs for Youths living with HIV
During the Safe Spaces for Youth living with HIV, we facilitate the importance of TB screening and early diagnosis. The organization screen Youths for TB and refer for TB Prevention and treatment services, scaling up the uptake of TB prevention & treatment.
